The first meeting of our Community in 2012 took place in Toronto at St. Teresa's Parish on Jan. 16th. Fr. Jan Burczyk, CSMA and Fr. Jozef Morawski, CSMA who are providing pastoral ministry in this parish were the hosts. As always our discussions about the Community matters, current situations and plans for the future had filled the afternoon. With the sun setting down we left Toronto with the sense of new enthusiasm and courage for this 2012.

When all students returned to their schools after Christmas and New Year's break, St. Peter's Seminary in London was joined by Fr. Jacek Kokosa, CSMA who for the next few months will stay there to learn and study the English language. It became almost a tradition that the Seminary is the place for our "newly acquired additions" to stay, pray, learn and practice the English language. As always Seminary staff and students graciously accepted our "addition". Fr. Jacek we wish you great interactions and quick comprehension in this challenge to study English.

In many parishes the month of January abounded in many "Oplateks". These are gatherings where members of different groups, associations, and organizations sing Christmas carols, exchange best wishes, break the oplatek, and share potluck meals. Domestic Church, being one of the many very active parish groups also organized such gathering and Fr. Andrew Kowalczyk, Fr. Matthew Sobierajski, Fr. Jozef Morawski who are involved with this movement, took part in Oplateks in London, Mississauga, Guelph, and Toronto.

When the blitz and confetti of the New Year's celebrations settled down, on Jan. 4th members of our Community, namely Fr. Adam, Fr. Jacek, Fr. Mateusz and Fr. Andrew, boarded our van and set out on the trip to Mississauga. The Parish of St. Maximilian Kolbe, run by the Oblate Fathers, was the site of our annual gathering for the Polish Priests of Eastern Canada. Our London's contingent of the Michaelites was joined by Fr. John from Toronto. Bishop Boissonneau, Auxiliary of Toronto, representatives from local media, Polish Consulate and over 60 priests gathered for this yearly event. With Christmas songs, dance, great food and lots of conversations we entered into a new year hoping and praying for God's Blessing in 2012.

Saint Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our protection against the wickedness
and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do Thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host -
by the Power of God -
cast into hell, Satan and all the evil spirits,
who roam throughout the world
seeking the ruin of souls.

Amen.

The name Michael signifies "Who is like to God?" /Mi-cha-el/ Michael, God’s champion was the leader of the good angels  in the battle fought in heaven against Satan and his followers. /Rv 12:7-12/ Holy Scripture describes St. Michael as "one of the chief princes, and defender of God’s people /Dn 10:12-21; 12:1/ and leader of the forces of heaven in their triumph over the powers of hell. He has been especially honoured and invoked as patron and protector by the Church from the time of the Apostles.

Although he is always called "the Archangel," the Greek Fathers and many others place him over all the angels - as Prince of the Seraphim. St. Michael is the patron of paratroopers and police.
